Product description
This device is based on sketches originally designed by Leonardo Da Vinci (Flying pendulum clock) and patented by Adler Christian.
This model is designed to be 100% 3D printed with the fewest parts possible and without using supports. Only three additional items are needed:
- A piece of sewing thread
- Oil or some type of lubricant
- Non-slip pads to place on the feet
The operation is very simple:
- First, assemble all the parts. All pieces are press-fit or screwed together.
- Lubricate the mechanism and turn it back and forth until it rotates smoothly.
- Using sandpaper or a lighter, polish any small irregularities from the print, leaving the surfaces as clean as possible. Make sure the vertical bars are well-polished to prevent the cord from getting stuck.
- Tie the cord to the pendulum, pass the other end of the cord through the hole located at the end of the bar, and knot it at the adjustment piece. By screwing or unscrewing this piece, you can adjust the length of the cord. The optimal length between the end of the bar and the counterweight is 6.5 cm or 25.6 inches.
- Turn the upper bar clockwise about 12 turns to compress the spring. Don't over-tighten it! It will start to spin and should work for around 20 cycles.
Enjoy printing!
